Dr Spyros Bakalis is a highly skilled Consultant in Obstetrics and Subspecialist in Maternal and Fetal Medicine, with nearly 20 years of experience in some of London’s busiest maternity units. He is based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, where he plays a leading role in managing high-risk pregnancies and advancing maternal care.
Dr Bakalis specialises in complex maternal and fetal medicine, offering expert fetal scanning and high-risk obstetric care. As the Lead Obstetrician for the Maternal Cardiac Clinic, he provides advanced care for pregnant women with heart conditions, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and management. His expertise also extends to specialist fetal medicine scanning clinics, where he performs detailed assessments to support early diagnosis and personalised care.
Beyond his clinical work, he is a Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) College Tutor, demonstrating his commitment to medical education and mentoring. Dr Bakalis graduated from Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’ Medical School before completing his subspecialist training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at University College London Hospital (UCLH). His fetal medicine scanning expertise was honed at King’s College London, where he also conducted extensive research, leading to numerous publications in leading medical journals.
