What's included in the price

Unlike a blood test alone, every NIPT at our clinic includes an ultrasound scan to confirm your dates, check your baby's heartbeat and viability, and make sure the test is appropriate for your pregnancy — plus a specialist review of your results and support if any follow-up is needed. See our full fees and prices for scans and other services.

Private NIPT cost in London

Why the scan is part of the price

NIPT is the most accurate way to screen for the common chromosomal conditions before birth, but it cannot detect physical (structural) anomalies, which make up around two-thirds of fetal anomalies. That is why every private NIPT we offer in London is priced with an ultrasound scan, and why the scan adds so much to your result:

  • NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnosis. The scan looks at your baby directly instead of giving only a probability.
  • The scan confirms your dates, the number of babies, where the placenta is and how your baby is growing. Wrong dates can affect how a NIPT result is interpreted.
  • Soft markers such as increased nuchal translucency or an absent nasal bone show on ultrasound but not on NIPT.
  • Some conditions that standard NIPT panels do not cover, such as spina bifida and other neural tube defects, may be visible on a scan.
  • If a NIPT result is unexpected, the scan helps show whether a vanishing twin or the placenta could explain it.

Wherever you are

Our NIPTs are available right across the UK

Our NIPTs are available all over the UK — you do not have to be in London to benefit from our team’s expertise.

If you are in London, we strongly recommend coming in for our structural 10-week anomaly examination scan: alongside the NIPT blood test, our specialists examine your baby’s developing anatomy in detail, which a blood test alone cannot do.

If you live far from London, you can still access our tests. We have partnered with more than 200 clinics across the country that provide our NIPTs with our team’s deep expertise behind them, delivered through Jeen Health. You can find your nearest collection clinic and book the same tests we offer in London.

NIPT cost — your questions answered

How much does NIPT cost in the UK?

At the London Pregnancy Clinic, private NIPT starts at £490 and includes your ultrasound scan and a specialist review of the results. Advanced tests that add microdeletions or genome-wide screening range from £790 to £1,490. See the full price list above.

If you specifically want a UK-analysed basic screen, TDL VeriSeq V2 is priced the same as PrenatalSAFE — £540 with your scan. Run by The Doctors Laboratory in London as the successor to the discontinued Harmony test, it covers Down's, Edwards' and Patau's syndromes with optional fetal sex and reports in 2–4 working days.

Is NIPT available on the NHS?

The NHS offers NIPT only to people whose combined screening test shows a higher chance of Down's, Edwards' or Patau's syndrome. Choosing NIPT privately means you can have it from 9–10 weeks without waiting for an initial screening result, and with a detailed ultrasound included. Read more about NIPT.

Why is your NIPT more than a home blood test?

Because the price includes far more than a blood draw: an ultrasound scan to confirm your dates and check your baby, a specialist review of your results, and clinical support if any follow-up is needed. That combination is what makes the result meaningful.

Why do NIPT prices vary so much?

Because the tests screen for different things. The first NIPTs, launched in 2011, looked only for Down's, Edwards' and Patau's syndromes. Since then, laboratories have added the sex chromosomes, microdeletions such as 22q11.2 and, with some tests, changes across the whole genome. The more a test screens for, the more it costs, so start from what you want to know: see basic or advanced NIPT above.

Can I have your NIPT if I am not in London?

Yes. Our NIPTs are available at more than 200 partner clinics across the UK through Jeen Health, so you can access the same tests and our team’s expertise close to home.

How do I interpret my NIPT results?

NIPT reports your baby's chance of the screened conditions as high or low chance rather than a yes/no answer. Our plain-English guide to NIPT results covers sensitivity, PPV and what to do after a high-chance result — and our free PPV calculator personalises the numbers.

I’m not based in London — can I just do the NIPT without a scan?

Not through London Pregnancy Clinic — every NIPT we offer includes an expert ultrasound scan. The scan confirms your pregnancy is viable, dates it accurately and checks it is suitable for testing, which is why we do not offer the blood test on its own.

If you cannot get to our London clinic, our partner Jeen Health offers NIPT across the UK. You will need to provide proof of a pregnancy scan taken within the last 7 days before your blood sample is taken.
